The man let out a soft chuckle and pressed a kiss to her forehead."I miss Grandma and Mom and Dad too. Oh right, where’s Daniel?"
Bella Green asked anxiously. That silly kid, once he knew something had happened to her, he must have been frantic.
"Daniel’s at the old house. We’ll go back first, the doctor’s at home too."
Back in the video call, Bella had briefly mentioned her physical condition.
And now that they were seeing Bella in person, she looked energetic and in great shape.
But Mason Bennett still couldn’t relax.
"I’m already fine."
Bella said with a squinty smile, and to prove she was telling the truth, she swung her arm a couple of times.
Mason laughed and rubbed her head, said nothing, started the car, and caught up with the two cars in front.
...
Up ahead, Michael Green kept craning his neck to look back. Seeing Mason’s car nowhere in sight, he couldn’t help getting anxious.
"How come they still haven’t caught up? Were they discovered?"
Michael asked.
Even though he knew the chances of that were almost zero.
Chloe Johnson clicked her tongue, tugged on his sleeve, and shook her head.
"Why are you worrying so much? Mason’s in the car too, it’s not like he doesn’t know the way home."
The driver in front gave an awkward smile. "Mr. Green, don’t worry, once we’re out of the estate’s range, we’re already safe."
"We’ve been ’safe’ for ages and they still haven’t caught up?" Michael said irritably.
The driver let out two dry laughs and didn’t reply.
Did that really need to be asked?
Chloe couldn’t stand it either and tugged him again.
"Enough, it’s young people’s business, why are you sticking your nose in so much? It’s not like she’s going to get lost."
Hearing that, Michael glared at her. "So you do know, huh? Aren’t you afraid Bella’s going to be taken advantage of?"
Chloe couldn’t help but laugh at that. "Oh, come on. Bella already said they’ve registered their marriage, they’re legally husband and wife now. After everything they’ve been through, what’s wrong with them getting all lovey-dovey? You just like to meddle."
Michael knew she was right, but he still felt off.
Even though Bella wasn’t his biological daughter, he’d raised her since she was little, and she was his only girl.
They hadn’t seen each other for so long, and the moment they met again she said she was married, and had been whisked away.
How could he not feel sore about it?
What’s more, this whole incident happened because she married this Mason Bennett and provoked Matthew Lawrence.
But he also knew it was a done deal, and besides, Mason’s status and position were right there.
He was at least worthy of their Bella.
Bella had no idea about all the twists and turns in her parents’ hearts; she was just anxious to hurry back home.
...
At the Bennett Family’s old house, everyone was already waiting anxiously in the courtyard.
Mason had said he’d found Bella and was going to pick her up, which made everyone overjoyed.
Mason had never revealed Bella’s whereabouts, and the Bennett family had almost thought Bella had really met with disaster.
Only Daniel Green had been informed in advance by Mason.
Because if they didn’t tell him, the kid was about to dive straight into the river and refuse to come up until he found Bella.
In the courtyard, Bellamy Homes was supporting Old Mrs. Bennett.
In just a few days, the old lady seemed to have aged several years, even her back had stooped quite a bit.
Bella had just gotten out of the car when she saw this scene.
Everyone was looking toward the gate with worried eyes.
The moment they saw her, they were all shocked with joy and excitement, and the two women’s eyes turned red on the spot.
This time really had been a brush with life and death.
Far too dangerous...
