Chapter 837: The Ice Abyss Secret

5 min read

Third Person’s POVInstead, she had begun speaking about something that even the highest-ranking members of the empire apparently didn’t know.

Shixea slowly continued,

"Originally, your father and I had no intention of revealing this secret to you so early."

"According to every historical record preserved by the royal family, the Glaciem Ice Abyss wasn’t supposed to open for another fifty years."

"By then, you would have already become a well-established Crystal Formation Mage and would have accumulated sufficient strength, experience, and resources to safely pursue what lies hidden inside."

Her voice became noticeably heavier.

"That would have been the perfect time and opportunity for you to obtain that secret."

She paused briefly before letting out a quiet sigh.

"Unfortunately, none of us anticipated that the Glaciem Ice Abyss would awaken half a century ahead of schedule."

"Because of this unforeseen event, we no longer have the luxury of waiting."

"And at the same time, the danger involved in obtaining that opportunity has increased severalfold for you."

Erius could barely suppress the curiosity rising inside him as every sentence only deepened the mystery.

Seeing the anticipation written plainly across her son’s face, Shixea smiled faintly before finally revealing the truth.

"The hidden vestiges of the Glaciem Crown Empire contain an ancient method capable of increasing the elemental talent grade of a mage."

She deliberately paused.

"However, it is limited exclusively to those possessing affinity with the Ice or Water elements."

The moment those words reached his ears, Erius abruptly shot up from his chair.

Disbelief, excitement, and astonishment rapidly appeared across his face.

His breathing became hurried as he stared at his mother.

"...Such a thing actually exists?"

He almost shouted those words, as his voice trembled with excitement.

Throughout the magical world, talent grade had always been regarded as something bestowed by fate itself.

It determined the speed at which one advanced on the divine ascension path, the purity of one’s elemental affinity, and ultimately the height one could reach upon the divine ascension path.

Although there were countless heavenly treasures capable of improving one’s power or strengthening one’s physique, something capable of directly raising a person’s innate elemental talent had always belonged to the realm of legends.

Seeing his reaction, Shixea merely nodded.

"Yes, it does."

"However, its effects only work on those who have yet to step into the Sky Realm."

"Once a mage forms a true Magic Dimension and enters the Realm of Blue Heaven, the opportunity disappears forever."

Her eyes remained fixed upon him.

"That is precisely why you are the ideal candidate."

Erius’s body involuntarily trembled, as he currently possessed a top-tier Mystic Grade affinity in the Ice element.

If what his mother said was true, then his talent could ascend into the Legendary Grade.

Merely imagining such a possibility caused his heartbeat to quicken.

There was no need for anyone to explain the significance of Legendary Grade talent.

Throughout the known history of the Northern Glacial Region and the Dark Star Continent as a whole, every Heaven Connection Realm expert had possessed Legendary Grade elemental talent.

Although possessing such talent didn’t guarantee one would eventually become a Forbidden Existence, it had long since become an undisputed prerequisite for reaching that supreme realm.

Without it, the path toward the Heaven Connection Realm was almost impossible.

Almost immediately, another thought flashed through Erius’s mind.

His eyes widened as he stared at his mother.

"...Father..."

He couldn’t even finish the sentence.

Shixea immediately understood what he wished to ask.

A knowing smile appeared upon her face.

"Yes."

She slowly nodded.

"Your father himself had once discovered that hidden inheritance."

"He was also the only person in the entire history of our empire who successfully reached the deepest part of the Glaciem Ice Abyss, the catacombs of the Glaciem Crown Empire."

A trace of admiration unconsciously appeared in her pale-blue eyes as she continued.

"It was there that he discovered an unknown Ice Origin."

"After refining it, not only did his elemental affinity ascend to the Legendary Grade, but even his soul and body underwent a complete transformation."

"His compatibility with the Ice element increased tremendously, allowing him to comprehend ice element laws with a speed far beyond what had previously been possible."

Erius silently listened, his breathing gradually becoming heavier.

The god-like figure he had admired ever since childhood...

The mighty Ice Emperor, his father, had once walked the very same path now laid before him.

Seeing the excitement within his eyes, Shixea’s expression immediately became serious once again.

"Remember this carefully."

Her voice carried unquestionable authority.

"If you wish to reach those ancient catacombs, you must first enter the mountain fissures from which the Frozen Origin Dew emerges."

"They are the only known entrances leading toward the underground ruins of the Glaciem Crown Empire."

She leaned slightly forward.

"But don’t underestimate them; the catacombs hidden beneath those mountains are unimaginably dangerous."

"Even your father nearly lost his life there while he was still a Crystal Formation Realm mage."

The excitement on Erius’s face immediately faded.

He couldn’t help but imagine the seemingly invincible Ice Emperor standing upon the brink of death.

If even someone like his father had almost perished, then the dangers hidden beneath those mountains were undoubtedly beyond ordinary imagination.

Shixea noticed the solemn look on his face before continuing,

"That is precisely why I warned you earlier that when the time comes, absolutely do not provoke Eryndor."

Her tone became especially serious.

"No matter how much his arrogance irritates you, endure it."

"For this expedition, he will become the single most important chess piece in your hands."

"He will clear away dangers that you cannot overcome and create opportunities that would otherwise remain forever beyond your reach."

Erius slowly nodded.

Having learned everything his mother had just revealed, he naturally understood why she had tolerated Ethan’s behavior throughout the day.

Originally, this opportunity had been meticulously planned by both his parents over the course of several decades.

The premature opening of the Glaciem Ice Abyss had nearly shattered those plans completely.
