Chapter 29: Shelter Alliance

6 min read

[You have unlocked new manager permissions.]

[You can now form alliances with other shelters.]

[You have unlocked the Alliance Leaderboard.]

[You have acquired the coordinates of an abandoned shelter.]

[You have received 1 random blue weapon blueprint.]

[You have received 5 random blue parts.]

...

The third crisis had finally come to an end, and Ye Yun let out a huge sigh of relief.

However, his attention soon turned to the system’s new features.

Ye Yun clicked on the "Allies" tab.

The next moment, the relevant information appeared before his eyes.

[You are not currently in any shelter alliance.]

[You must create or join a shelter alliance to activate this feature.]

The corner of Ye Yun’s mouth twitched slightly.

’Honestly, if this alliance feature had appeared sooner, those other shelters around me probably wouldn’t have had to make such a tragic sacrifice.’

While he was lost in thought, the three private chat rooms he had created suddenly burst into activity.

[Whoa, awesome! They finally added an alliance feature!]

[Where’s Brother Ye? He should hurry up and create an alliance so we can all join!]

[This feature is great. At last, we won’t have to live in constant fear!]

[All this fighting and killing every day is so exhausting. Cooperation and mutual benefit are a much better way to go.]

[Can anyone explain what these alliances do?]

...

Seeing the conversation, an idea struck Ye Yun.

An idea he’d had before resurfaced.

He had originally created the three private chat rooms to gather a group of managers who would side with him when he needed help.

However, after a period of observation, he found the arrangement far too unstructured.

He had considered forming a new, smaller group.

But when the Second Shelter feature was introduced, it made everyone’s relationships delicate, forcing him to shelve the idea for the time being.

Now, the new alliance feature finally gave him an opportunity to put his plan into action.

’Since I can create an alliance myself, there’s no way I’m joining someone else’s.’

Ye Yun immediately clicked the alliance option and chose to create a new one.

[Creating a new alliance requires 10 blue parts.]

[Please choose a new name for your alliance.]

Ye Yun looked at the prompt on the screen, his decision already made.

[Alliance Name: Wasteland Survivor Alliance]

[Creation successful!]

[The Last Sanctuary]

[Alliance Level: 1]

[Alliance Members: 1/10]

[Members of an alliance cannot attack one another.]

[You have unlocked a new structure: Alliance Teleportation Gate (This structure does not occupy a shelter building slot.)]

Ye Yun nodded in satisfaction when he saw there was a limit to the number of alliance members.

’I was just wondering what excuse I could use to keep the freeloaders out. I didn’t expect the system to hand me a perfect excuse on a silver platter.’

Ye Yun:

"I’ve created a new alliance called the Wasteland Survivor Alliance."

"Anyone who wants to join can search for the alliance by name and send an application."

"However, a Level 1 alliance has a member limit. Besides me, only nine other managers can join, so I’ll have to screen the applicants."

"If you want to join, private message me with the details of your current situation."

"For now, the alliance needs some stronger members to form its core."

"If you aren’t selected, don’t be discouraged."

"I’ll be expanding the member cap later on. When I do, I’ll give priority to people from this chat room."

"I saw someone ask earlier about the benefits of joining an alliance."

"From what I can tell, once you’re in an alliance, members can’t attack one another."

"Also, after you join, a special structure appears in your build menu: the Alliance Teleportation Gate."

"I haven’t built it yet, but the name alone tells you it must be for long-distance teleportation."

Hearing that only nine people could be chosen, many of the managers grew anxious.

They scrambled to send him private messages detailing their shelters’ status, hoping to win his favor and earn a spot in the alliance.

Ye Yun wasn’t in a hurry to make a decision. He decided to gather all the information first and then perform a comprehensive assessment.

In Ye Yun’s view, the first wave of members needed to have a certain level of strength and potential. They had to be able to protect themselves during a crisis and, if necessary, contribute to the alliance.

He didn’t want the alliance to be a safe haven for managers looking for protection; he wanted it to be a powerful collective capable of standing its ground in the Wasteland World.

Soon, a familiar name appeared before his eyes.

Lei Hu:

[Ye Yun, application sent. Count me in.]

Of course, Ye Yun would never turn down a high-quality teammate like Lei Hu.

The man was not only brave, but also meticulous in his boldness—a true talent.

Ye Yun immediately opened the application list. Sure enough, he found Lei Hu’s name and approved his request without a second thought.

[Lei Hu has joined your alliance.]

[Alliance Members: 2/10]

With Lei Hu on board, Ye Yun began to screen the other applicants even more carefully.

He knew that every choice was crucial, as it would directly affect the alliance’s future development and overall strength.

Among the many applicants, Ye Yun focused on a few key criteria: the shelter’s defensive capabilities, the manager’s leadership skills, and how well the members would complement one another.

He wanted to build a diverse alliance where each member could play an important role in their own specific field.

After careful consideration, Ye Yun proceeded to select several other members.

Ye Yun did not fill all 10 slots at once.

Joining and leaving the alliance came with special rules.

You couldn’t just join and leave whenever you wanted.

Both joining and leaving had a ten-day cooldown period.

To join an alliance, you couldn’t have been a member of another one within the last ten days.

And to leave your current alliance, you had to submit a request ten days in advance.

Ye Yun was quite satisfied with this cooldown period.

The cooldown period undoubtedly added to the alliance’s stability.

It would force members to think more carefully before joining. Once in, they would be more likely to value the alliance’s unity and cooperation, and wouldn’t leave so easily.

This would help form long-term, stable relationships, allowing every member to invest in the alliance’s growth and development with peace of mind.

Moreover, this cooldown mechanism for joining and leaving would also minimize the chances of someone using their alliance status to attack others.
