Chapter 46: War Trophies

6 min read

’An Earth Spear? This Earth Barbarian Bull’s Bloodline is that pure?’

Andre watched the Stone Spear flying toward him and spread his hands, releasing a Water Barrier.

The Stone Spear passed right through the Water Barrier, piercing Andre’s body along with it.

The Earth Barbarian Bull was ecstatic to see the Stone Spear kill Andre, but it was immediately seared by a tornado.

As the tornado howled, Andre’s figure appeared above it.

"Fusion Witchcraft: Punishment of Thunder Misfortune!"

Andre raised both hands, making a grasping motion. Lightning flickered and materialized in his palms. The instant the lightning appeared, the flames from within the tornado began to converge on it.

As the flames and lightning began to fuse, Andre’s body started to swell, until he resembled a Giant.

"Go!" Andre powerfully hurled the Thunder Calamity Spear in his hands toward the bull.

Once Andre threw the Thunder Calamity Spear, the strike was like an ancient Titan hurling the Lance of Longinus from the earth toward Heaven.

"MOO!" The Earth Barbarian Bull roared upon sensing the danger overhead. A massive amount of Earth Element began to coalesce, forming a translucent Stone Spear that shot toward Andre.

The two Elemental Spears collided.

BOOM! A shockwave erupted where the Elemental Spears met, kicking up a violent gale.

Caught off guard, Andre was blown away by the gale.

The Earth Barbarian Bull, however, was slammed to the ground, forced to its knees.

"MOO!" The Earth Barbarian Bull tried to rise, but the Thunder Calamity Spear shattered the Earth Spear and instantly plunged into its head.

Amid flashes of lightning, the Earth Barbarian Bull lowered its head in unwilling defeat.

HUFF... HUFF... Andre gasped for breath. A smile touched his lips as he gazed at the Earth Barbarian Bull he had slain.

’That last attack worked because the tornado interfered with the Earth Element around the bull, weakening the Power of its Earth Spear.’

’That’s why my Thunder Calamity Spear was able to smash through its Earth Spear and pierce its skull.’

’Without the Demonic Energy Frenzy boosting my Magic Power, I never would have been able to cast that Witchcraft after using the Flame Scroll!’

Andre took a Recovery Potion from his Storage Ring and downed it, then used Witchcraft to extinguish the raging fire in the woods.

After the fire was extinguished, Andre landed on the ground and sealed his Divine Blood.

As he sealed his Divine Blood, a sudden feeling of emptiness washed over him.

HISS! Andre’s legs gave out, and he nearly collapsed.

In addition to the emptiness, a fiery pain coursed through his entire body.

’My body isn’t strong enough. This is a problem!’

Andre downed two more Recovery Potions to alleviate the tearing pain caused by the Magic Power rampaging through his body.

Five minutes later, Andre finally made his way over to the Earth Barbarian Bull.

The Earth Barbarian Bull’s body was still reacting, its limbs twitching every now and then.

’It’s huge!’ The corner of Andre’s mouth twitched as he looked at the Earth Barbarian Bull before him.

This Earth Barbarian Bull was over thirty meters long and nine meters tall. For the current Andre, it was a true behemoth.

’It’s a good thing I upgraded my Storage Ring before coming here. Otherwise, so much of this meat would go to waste. I can’t eat it all myself, but I can feed it to Seven Rings and save on the Magic Stones I’d otherwise spend on Magical Beasts!’

Andre looked at the new Storage Ring on his hand.

He had acquired this Storage Ring before setting out, trading an Earth Element Crystal to a Wizard named Gert for it.

In order to obtain the Earth Element Crystal from him, Gert had not only given Andre this Storage Ring but had also thrown in two Potion recipes for cultivating Elemental Creatures.

The reason Gert was so generous was because he had received guidance from Radak.

Radak had essentially solved every problem on his path as a Wizard.

One could say that while they weren’t officially master and apprentice, their relationship was even closer than one.

If Radak hadn’t been disinclined to take on a disciple before meeting Andre, Gert would have surely been his first.

"Time to get to work!" Andre retrieved a Magic Energy Saw from his Storage Ring.

He had specially purchased this Magic Energy Saw after accepting the quest.

Inserting a Magic Stone would power the Witch Array inscribed upon it.

Andre inserted a Magic Stone and began to dismember the Earth Barbarian Bull’s corpse.

He started with the hooves. They were the least valuable part of an Earth Barbarian Bull, but they weren’t entirely worthless; they could be used to concoct Potions that enhanced bone recovery.

If sold at the market, a single hoof could fetch a price of a hundred Magic Stones.

Amid flying flesh and blood, it took Andre half an hour just to sever the Earth Barbarian Bull’s four hooves.

Only after they were packed in boxes did he place them in the Storage Ring.

Among these organs, the intestines and stomachs were the most difficult to clean.

The Earth Barbarian Bull had three stomachs, and its intestines, if stretched out, would be nearly a hundred meters long.

Fortunately, Andre could use Witchcraft to clean the organs, though the price was a new pile of filth a short distance away.

After removing all the organs, Andre successfully located his quest objective: the Bezoar Stone.

He then proceeded to cut away the meat and hide, saving the skeleton for last.

By the time he had finished completely butchering the Earth Barbarian Bull, night had fallen. The stench of blood from his work had even attracted some nearby beasts.

However, as soon as Andre released Seven Rings, the presence of these other beasts vanished completely.

"Here you go!" Andre tossed a calf shank to Seven Rings for it to eat. He packed the butchered meat into boxes piece by piece before storing them in his Storage Ring.

Seeing that it had meat to eat, Seven Rings grew excited, tearing into the calf shank and shaking its head from time to time.

"This is exhausting," Andre muttered. "Cleaning up the spoils is more tiring than the fight itself."

Andre placed the last piece of hide into his Storage Ring, then used Witchcraft to conjure a ball of clean water to wash his hands. After that, he started preparing his dinner.

Dinner was simple: roasted meat. He started a fire, placed a cut of beef over it, and after ten-odd minutes, the meat was cooked. Andre sprinkled on some spices and took a bite.

"Hmm, it’s tough... a little too tough, in fact!"

Andre’s expression grew exceedingly strange as he chewed on the impossibly tough beef.

He turned to look at Seven Rings, who was eating with exceptional glee, occasionally snorting and blasting hot air from its nostrils.

"Sigh..." Andre shook his head and said nothing more.

After dinner, Andre recalled Seven Rings, found a random cave, and went to sleep.
