Chapter 143: The Gift

7 min read

"If you had prepared more back then, you wouldn’t be in this situation now."

Klein looked at Radak and said this. Radak could only nod helplessly. ’My own master is lecturing me,’ he thought. ’What can I do but take it?’

"This is also the first time we’ve met, you and I, your Grandmaster. What do you want? I’ll give it to you as a first-meeting gift."

At this, Klein turned to Andre.

"Grandmaster, I’m about to embark on my first expedition. Could you give me something useful for it?"

After hearing this, Andre thought for a moment before making his request.

"How long have you been at the academy?"

Klein frowned upon hearing Andre’s words.

He had just scanned Andre’s body and determined that Andre was no more than thirty years old.

And now, Andre was actually about to join an expedition.

"Whose bastard idea was this?"

As anger flashed across Klein’s face, the sky suddenly filled with dark clouds, rumbling with thunder and flashing with lightning. A gale whipped up around them, so strong that Radak could barely keep his footing.

"Master, it’s related to the Talent Witchcraft he awakened."

Radak explained to Klein after steadying himself.

"Talent Witchcraft... Your Talent Witchcraft?"

Klein looked at Andre, and after a closer inspection, he noticed Andre’s pupils were a faint purple. Deep within each eye, a Demon Pattern Disc spun ceaselessly.

"The Eye of Truth. No wonder!"

After seeing the Demon Pattern Discs, Klein’s furrowed brow gradually relaxed.

The strange phenomena that had appeared because of his anger also began to subside.

"Yes. Master, as you know, the Eye of Truth can help the Expeditionary Corps understand the races of an Otherworld, as well as their legacies."

"That’s why Andre is among the first to join the Expeditionary Corps."

Seeing that Klein was no longer angry, Radak finally spoke up to explain.

"Mm, so you want something for your expedition, right? Then I’ll give you a Star Realm Battleship."

After a moment’s thought, Klein reached forward. A spatial rift formed in an instant, and he pulled out a fist-sized Star Realm Battleship.

"Is that...?" Radak narrowed his eyes as he looked at the Star Realm Battleship.

’If I remember correctly, isn’t that the Star Realm Battleship Master used before he became a Morning Star?’

’Although Master built a new Star Realm Battleship after becoming a Morning Star Great Wizard...’

’...this one right here was his very first. Master had a very deep emotional attachment to this Star Realm Battleship.’

"This sort of thing is useless to me now. It’s just right for you."

Klein said to Andre. Andre nodded and solemnly took the Star Realm Battleship from Klein’s hand.

"When you embark on your expedition, you can break the seal on it."

Klein pointed a finger, transferring a strand of Witchcraft to Andre.

Andre felt the information within the Witchcraft and nodded.

This Witchcraft was used to control the size of the Star Realm Battleship in his hand; whether shrinking it or restoring it, it could all be done with this spell.

"Alright, head over to the Main Institute first. Get to know the people who will be on the expedition with you, and while you’re at it, digest this Witchcraft."

With a wave of his hand, Klein sent Andre to the continent where the Main Institute was located. Then, Klein began instructing Radak on how to break through to the Morning Star realm and what he would face during the process.

Radak listened to Klein’s words, nodding repeatedly while taking note of the key points.

After Klein sent him on his way, Andre, cradling the Star Realm Battleship, took out his Token and used a Teleportation Array to travel to the Main Institute’s location.

Like the branch institute, this place was also situated in a mountain range. But unlike the branch, the mountains of the Main Institute were much larger, and the concentration of Magic Power was abnormally dense, almost choking.

Andre had to cough a few times before he could acclimate to the Magic Power concentration here.

’I need to find a place to sell the Divine Art legacy.’

Andre frowned, looking at the Main Institute, which was many times larger than the Senbai World. He put away the Star Realm Battleship in his hand and hurried to the Main Institute’s Task Hall.

But when he arrived at the Task Hall, he discovered that the situation at the Main Institute was vastly different from the branch.

The Main Institute’s Task Hall was just a place for posting tasks, whereas the branch’s Task Hall also functioned as a trading hall.

After asking a Wizard Apprentice in the Task Hall, Andre bought a map and followed its markings to the trading hall.

Upon entering the trading hall, Andre couldn’t help but stop in his tracks. The scene before him was astounding.

In the trading hall, there were hundreds of Magic Energy Screens before him, each one 50 meters long and 30 meters wide.

Their massive size allowed one to see the words on them with perfect clarity.

’Is the difference between the Main Institute and the branch really this huge?’

Andre took a deep breath. Back when he first entered the academy, the sight of the Magic Energy Screens had already stunned him once.

But the Magic Energy Screens at the branch and the ones at the Main Institute were on completely different levels.

At the Main Institute, every single Magic Energy Screen was an incredibly powerful Witchcraft Artifact.

Andre had no doubt that if the Main Institute were attacked by another power, these Magic Energy Screens would spray out Light Witchcraft in retaliation.

Andre walked up to a Magic Energy Screen and watched the constantly refreshing trade information, starting to search for what he needed.

It was one thing not to look, but now that he was, he found there were many things he wanted.

But right now, he was short on funds. He had to sell the Divine Power legacy first before he’d have the capital to buy anything.

Andre turned, walked over to the trading hall’s counter, presented his Token to confirm his identity, and then posted the Divine Art legacy for sale.

Once he was done, Andre was about to leave the counter to go look for the items he had his eye on.

But just as he turned to leave, the female apprentice behind the counter called out to him.

Andre turned back, puzzled.

"The item you listed for trade has already been bought. Would you like to withdraw the proceeds from the transaction?"

"It was bought already? That was fast."

Andre stared at the female apprentice behind the counter, his eyes wide.

After all, he had listed the Divine Power legacy for 200,000 Medium Magic Stones.

That was a price very few people at the branch institute could afford.

"You’re from a branch, aren’t you? Do you have any idea how many people are at the Main Institute?"

"How big is the White Sea Wizard World? How much new blood does the academy take in every year?"

Faced with the female apprentice’s questions, Andre could only shake his head repeatedly. He had never learned about any of this.
