Chapter 13: Verifying the Bloodline, Resolving Trouble

7 min read

Seven days later, the Magic Energy Flying Vessel reached the Qianyuan Subcontinent.

As an announcement sounded inside the Magic Energy Flying Vessel, Andre walked out of his room and greeted the other Wizard Apprentices.

He then went out onto the deck, gazing at the rapidly approaching beach.

As the Magic Energy Flying Vessel flew over the beach, Andre flicked his wrist, and several green Demon Patterns materialized in his eyes.

Once the Demon Patterns appeared, they collided, spawning even more.

Simultaneously, streams of cyan light converged behind him, forming the Multiple Wings of the Wind. After a short run-up, Andre leaped directly from the still-airborne Magic Energy Flying Vessel, flying straight toward his hometown.

"Sir Andre is no different than an Official Wizard now."

After Andre left, some of the Wizard Apprentices began discussing his exploits.

Over the past four years, Andre’s reputation had gradually spread. The reason for his fame, naturally, was the Potions he concocted and the Witchcraft Scrolls he created.

Among the major Wizard Academies, there were groups of traveling merchants, much like those found among mortals, who sold various goods.

It was these merchant Wizards who brought the Magic Potions and Witchcraft Scrolls Andre crafted to the various Wizard Academies, making his name well-known in just four short years.

In the eyes of these Wizard Apprentices, the abilities Andre had just displayed made him seem no different from an Official Wizard.

In the sky, Andre observed the scenery below, constantly adjusting his course. He landed just before sunset, and as he gazed at the city before him, a flicker of memory sparked in his eyes.

’This was the place I first arrived after transmigrating. I originally thought I would spend my whole life in this city, but I never expected to set foot on the path of a Wizard.’

’I’m back!’ Andre entered the city and headed toward the neighborhood where his home was. A few minutes later, he saw his father, Anglo, who was just closing up his shop for the day.

"Andre." Anglo turned to look at Andre, who was watching him from not far away, and blinked.

Andre looked somewhat different from the young man who had left home five years ago, but the familiar sense of their shared Bloodline allowed Anglo to recognize him instantly.

"I’m back, Father."

Andre walked up to Anglo, his face breaking into a wide smile.

"It’s good to have you back. It’s good to have you back."

Anglo excitedly patted Andre’s shoulder, and then a thought seemed to strike him.

"Why are you back? Didn’t the nobleman say you’d gone to some mysterious place?"

Anglo stared at Andre, his face etched with confusion.

"I’m back on a mission this time. Once I complete it, I’ll have to leave again."

Andre explained to his father in this life. After inheriting everything from the body’s original owner, he understood that he and the original Andre had fused, becoming one and the same.

’Though his memories from his past life were dominant, he had inherited everything from the original owner—including his Soul and Bloodline.’

"I see. Well, let’s go home. Your mother hasn’t seen you in a very long time."

Anglo nodded at Andre’s explanation and led him home.

The moment they walked through the door, Andre’s mother, Sofia, came over. She started to complain that her husband, Anglo, had forgotten to bring back something she’d asked for.

But when she saw Andre standing next to Anglo, she immediately covered her mouth with her hands as hot tears welled up and streamed from her eyes.

"Mother, I’m back."

Andre said with a smile.

Sofia nodded, then rushed forward and threw her arms around Andre. She began patting him down all over, checking to see if he was hurt.

"I’m fine, really. I’m not hurt."

Andre said helplessly, seeing his mother’s worried expression.

"As long as you’re all right, that’s what matters. Five years... you finally decided to come back to us."

Sofia nodded, lightly pounding on Andre’s chest with her right hand. It took a while before she was finally able to rein in her emotions.

"How long are you planning to stay this time?"

Sofia asked, looking at Andre with anticipation.

"How long? I can’t say for sure. A few days, maybe. I have other things I need to do."

Andre thought for a moment before telling her a small lie.

A look of disappointment crossed Sofia’s face.

"Come on, it’s good enough that he’s back at all. He only comes home once every five years, what more can you ask for?"

Anglo said, trying to placate his wife.

Sofia nodded, then pulled Andre into the room and began asking what he had been doing during the years he was away.

Looking at his parents, Andre decided to hide the truth about the Wizard Academy. Instead, he told them he had been studying at a prestigious institution of higher learning.

"A prestigious institution is good, very good! When you graduate, you’ll be able to become an official."

Sofia said to Andre, looking overjoyed.

Andre gave a wry smile. ’An official? To him now, a mortal official was no different than an ant.’

"Alright, our boy has finally come home. It’s time for you to show off your cooking."

Seeing Andre’s expression, Anglo thought his son must have run into some trouble at the academy, so he tried to change the subject for his wife’s benefit.

"I know, I know. Son, just you wait."

Annoyed by Anglo’s words, Sofia shot him a glare, then patted Andre’s hand before getting up to make dinner.

After Sofia left, Anglo fell silent for a moment before looking at Andre and saying seriously,

"I may not know what exactly you’re busy with in the Royal Capital, but there’s something I need to tell you: always follow your heart, and don’t let yourself be tainted by darkness."

Andre didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his father’s words. He could only nod in agreement.

"I’m going to go help your mother."

Anglo got up to help Sofia with the cooking. Soon, a rather lavish dinner was ready.

The family chatted throughout the meal, the air filled with the joyful atmosphere of a long-awaited reunion.

After dinner, Andre waited until Sofia was washing the dishes and Anglo was in the restroom. He slipped into their bedroom and collected a few strands of hair from their pillows.

He then returned to the living room and chatted with Sofia and Anglo for a while longer before retiring to his own room.

Once back in his room, Andre closed the door, then slipped out the window in a flash, flying outside the city.

He found a random cave and sealed the entrance. He then took out the Potions he had prepared back at the academy, ground the hair from Anglo and Sofia into a powder, and added it to the Potions.

Soon, golden images burst forth from the Potions, projecting onto the dark walls of the cave.

’It’s just as I thought. My awakening of the ancestral Bloodline was a fluke.’

Gazing at the images projected by the three Potions, Andre took a deep breath, his expression finally relaxing.

This had been his true purpose for returning home: to determine whether his parents possessed the same ancestral Bloodline he did.
