"You sent people into our country, too?" Dali finally processed, his expression growing even darker.
’If what they’re saying is true, that the president and the others have all been captured, then Cambodia is finished.’
At the very least, restless factions across Cambodia would surely make their move, sending the country spiraling back into its former state of chaos.
Feisen then pointed to Dali’s neck. "Mr. President, I think you should take another look at your neck. The same goes for the rest of you gentlemen."
Hearing this, Dali instinctively touched his neck and found a collar locked around it.
The same was true for the officers he had brought with him.
Instantly, the men began trying to remove the electronic collars.
Feisen just watched without saying a word. He knew perfectly well that the devices were impossible to remove.
After who knows how long, Dali asked with a grim expression, "What is this thing?"
No one answered him.
But in the next moment, the electronic collars on the necks of the three officers in front of him exploded in succession.
It was a gory scene. Heads rolled.
Dali and the survivors’ eyes constricted at the sight, their gazes filled with pure terror.
...
The capital of Cambodia was Liping City.
The President’s Mansion was a white building located in the city center.
Today, Baguda had summoned all his key officials to gather here and wait for news from the battlefield.
Without satellites, they couldn’t monitor the battle in real-time. They could only wait for news to be relayed by phone or video call.
"This situation with Dalat Town has given us a great opportunity!"
"Indeed. Once we annex that region, we can focus on our own development."
"This Xuanfeng Alliance will surely be the fastest nation to be wiped out."
The officials all wore confident smiles. As far as they were concerned, it was impossible for them to lose this battle.
Now, all they had to do was wait for news from the front.
Baguda remained silent. He was looking at his watch, calculating when Dali should be finishing the battle.
Even if the battle didn’t end on time, Dali was scheduled to contact them to report on the latest situation.
Soon, the appointed time arrived.
But Baguda’s brow slowly began to furrow, because there was still no word from Dali.
’Something isn’t right. Dali isn’t the type to disregard a schedule, especially not now.’
A few more moments passed, but there was still no call.
The other officials also began to sense that something was slightly off.
Baguda immediately turned to his secretary. "Get Dali on the phone. Ask for the latest update!"
The secretary immediately went to the phone and put the call on speaker.
A moment later, the call connected.
Baguda immediately spoke into the phone, "Dali, what’s the situation?"
But Dali didn’t answer. Instead, a mocking voice came from the other end: "You must be His Excellency, President Baguda of Cambodia. The Xuanfeng Alliance sends its regards!"
This statement left Baguda and the key officials in the conference room stunned.
"How could this be?"
"Shouldn’t Dali have answered?"
"He said he’s from the Xuanfeng Alliance. Impossible!"
"..."
The expression on everyone’s face changed.
They knew all too well what it meant for the enemy to answer this call. There was only one possibility: Dali had been defeated.
"Impossible!" Baguda refused to believe this was happening.
The next moment, a thunderous explosion suddenly erupted nearby, followed by the blare of urgent alarms.
Baguda and the others were aghast.
’Someone is actually attacking us here.’
’Why is this happening?’
’This is our capital! We have a dedicated defense force. Who would be so audacious?’
"What’s going on?" Baguda roared, his face pale.
The situation was spiraling far beyond his expectations.
A moment later, a soldier ran in frantically and reported, "Mr. President, a group of assailants has appeared out of nowhere! Their combat skills are leagues beyond our defense forces—I suspect they’re even tougher than the most elite special forces we’ve ever faced."
"What’s more, their weapons are far superior to ours. They can hit us from outside our effective range, and their guns pack more of a punch."
"Mr. President, you have to leave immediately! The defense force can’t hold them off, and there’s no time to call for reinforcements or heavy weapons."
"How could this be?" Baguda was in utter disbelief.
’We were the ones who attacked them, so why is our own capital being overrun?’
But at a time like this, he didn’t dare hesitate. Under the protection of a few soldiers, he could only scramble out of the building through a different exit.
But just as he exited the building, figures suddenly appeared in the sky. They were all wearing special wingsuits, performing all sorts of dangerous and incredible maneuvers.
’You’d need incredible physical strength and flexibility to pull that off.’
These figures descended with precision towards them, firing rapidly and killing all the surrounding soldiers.
By the time Baguda and the other Cambodian officials could react, the figures had already landed around them, their weapons aimed squarely at them.
The color drained from the faces of Baguda and his officials. They knew it was over.
’The other attack was just a feint. These are the real assailants.’
After landing, a man named Hong Xi looked at Baguda with a cold smile. He had seen the man’s file, so he knew this was his target.
"President Baguda, the Xuanfeng Alliance sends its regards," Hong Xi said, taking out an electronic collar and snapping it directly onto Baguda’s neck.
The others he brought with him did the same, swiftly fitting the other officials with electronic collars.
...
The Xuanfeng Alliance and Cambodia were both small countries, and their war had broken out so suddenly that it hadn’t even caused a stir on the international stage yet.
The world at large only knew of the Xuanfeng Alliance’s founding; no one knew Cambodia had launched an invasion against it.
Back home, life went on as usual. After the initial hype died down, news about the Xuanfeng Alliance gradually faded from public attention. The public’s attention had now shifted to a female influencer with the surname Nie putting lipstick on someone.
It was a perfect example of how peace and prosperity give people the luxury of focusing on the trivial and salacious.
「Tianzhou City.」
Outside the commercial building that housed Qingfeng Network Company, a car slowly pulled to a stop. A head poked out from the window, looking up at the Qingfeng Network Company logo on the ground floor of the building.
"Brother Huaqiang, is it finally our time to make a move?" a young man next to him asked with a sneer. "That bunch from Qingfeng Company has been getting a little too cocky lately. Now everyone’s talking about how amazing those guys from Youcheng are!"
"Don’t be hasty. We need to deal with Qingfeng Network Company first, as per Mr. Chen’s orders," Brother Huaqiang said with a cynical smirk.
This was the very man Mr. Chen had found to replace the Gao Brothers after they were dealt with. He was a notorious figure in the Tianzhou City underworld.
As this Brother Huaqiang was watching from his car, several official-looking vehicles pulled up and stopped in front of the building.
’The show is about to begin.’
