Synopsis
Zhang Qingtian spent his first life being a cruel, unfaithful man who betrayed everyone around him. Upon death, consumed by regret and the hatred of others, he vows to live virtuously in his next incarnation. He awakens in a rural ancient setting as Zhang Erniu, determined to reform his character. However, the path to righteousness proves treacherous. Instead of achieving a peaceful life of virtue, he finds himself entangled with a dominant figure who ensures he pays for his past sins through a different kind of submission. The writing adopts a whimsical, ironic tone, contrasting the protagonist's desperate attempts at morality with the inevitable consequences of his nature. It escalates from a simple quest for redemption into a power struggle within a small village community. The read is relatively light but carries a cynical edge. It appeals to those who enjoy seeing a flawed character struggle with genuine change while being humbled by a stronger force, though those seeking a serious moral redemption arc might find the outcome frustrating.

Editorial Review
The story is a short, completed work of eighty-three chapters, which suggests a tight plot without excessive filler. The strength lies in the irony of a former villain trying to be a saint and the chemistry between the reborn lead and the dominant rogue figure. However, the limited length and the whimsical approach might leave some character development feeling rushed, especially given the depth of the protagonist's original sins. Because the view count is currently negligible, it is hard to gauge wide-scale popularity, but the completed status adds significant value for those who dislike eternal cliffhangers. The transition from a modern corporate betrayer to a rural village resident provides a decent fish-out-of-water dynamic that keeps the narrative moving, even if the moral resolution is more about submission than actual spiritual growth.
