Chapter 801: Sinclair Sisters

7 min read

The next morning...Tyler sat by the window, leisurely sipping a cup of coffee that one of the Triplet sisters had just prepared. The morning sunlight poured through the windows, making the room unusually peaceful.

The three sisters stood nearby, no longer as proactive as they had been the previous night.

Lala, the eldest, broke the silence.

"Everyone in Moon Hawk City, including Young Master Yun Feng, has been searching for a swordsman."

"A swordsman?" Tyler raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

Momo glanced at the closed door before lowering her voice.

"There are rumors that the swordsman possesses an ancient artifact. Nobody knows what it is, but many influential families have been secretly searching for him."

Nana continued, " The Ister Family, Heaven Mist Pavilion, several merchant guilds... even independent cultivators are looking for him. Some want the artifact, while others simply wish to know whether the rumors are true."

Tyler rested his chin on one hand.

"Interesting..."

Before he could ask another question, the space inside the room suddenly distorted.

Ripples spread through the air.

The next moment, Suzuka and Hazel stepped out of the void.

The three sisters immediately stepped back in alarm.

"T-Teleportation?"

The triplets looked at Hazel as though they had seen a ghost.

Suzuka, however, noticed these three women first.

Her hand instinctively rested on the hilt of her sword.

"Oh... I didn’t know that they were still here." She glanced at Tyler. "Should I kill them? did you already finish using them?"

The Sisters immediately turned pale.

Tyler nearly sprayed out his coffee.

"’Finish them after using them’ sounds way worse than you think."

Suzuka blinked. "Does it?"

Tyler sighed. "It definitely does."

He put down the cup and waved his hand.

"It’s fine. Young Master Yun Feng already handed them over to me. I’ll keep them around for now."

The three sisters looked at each other before bowing deeply.

"Thank you, Young Master Tyler."

"But..." Tyler continued, "for everyone’s safety, you’re not allowed to wander around on your own for the time being."

The sisters nodded without objection.

Only then did Tyler suddenly pause.

"...Come to think of it."

He scratched his cheek awkwardly.

"What were your names again?"

Silence.

Suzuka’s lips twitched, ’You spent an entire night doing things with them and still don’t know their names...?’

"You scum..." she muttered under her breath.

"Did you say something?" Tyler looked over.

Suzuka immediately smiled, "Nothing at all."

The eldest stepped forward.

"I am Lala Sinclair."

"I am Momo Sinclair."

"And I am Nana Sinclair."

Tyler nodded seriously.

"Nice names."

Then he smiled.

"I’m Tyler. Although... I do hope the three of you aren’t secretly working for Young Master Yun Feng."

The three sisters hurriedly shook their heads.

"To put my mind at ease," Tyler continued, "would you mind signing a curse contract?"

The sisters froze.

"A... curse contract?"

Momo looked at Tyler in disbelief.

"Are... are you from a Demonic Sect?"

Tyler immediately waved both hands.

"No, no. We’re from a righteous sect."

The three sisters exchanged doubtful looks.

Nana hesitated before speaking.

"Don’t tell me... you’re from the Dark Forest Society?"

Tyler clapped happily.

"Correct!"

Then he thought for a moment.

"Oh... let’s also include our sect’s identity as part of the confidentiality clause."

The three sisters could only nod.

A moment later, Tyler took out a small skull from his storage bag.

The skull itself was only palm-sized, but inside it rested the tiny skull of an unborn infant.

Seeing it, the three sisters instinctively stepped back.

"W-Why is there a small skull inside the bigger one?" Lala asked cautiously.

"Oh, that?"

Tyler looked at it casually.

"The lingering resentment hadn’t dispersed yet, so it stayed behind. Don’t worry, the soul has already been purified. What’s left is nothing more than residual thoughts."

The three sisters looked at one another with complicated expressions.

The Dark Forest Society truly lived up to its reputation.

Although it was recognized as a righteous sect, many of its methods skirted the boundary between righteous and demonic paths. Every corpse entering the sect’s market had its karma carefully investigated, ensuring it hadn’t been obtained through murder or other forbidden means.

It was precisely because they followed such strict rules that the major righteous sects still acknowledged the Dark Forest Society as one of their own.

After the contract was completed, Tyler put the skull away with a satisfied nod.

"There."

He looked at the three sisters with a warm smile.

"So... do the three of you have anywhere else to go?"

The sisters looked puzzled.

"Somewhere to go?" Lala asked.

Tyler nodded.

"I mean, you don’t have to stay with me just because Yun Feng gave you away. You’re free to choose your own lives. If there’s somewhere you want to go or something you want to do, I’ll arrange it."

The Sinclair sisters exchanged glances before shaking their heads.

"We have nowhere else to go," Lala answered softly. "If Young Master Tyler doesn’t mind... we’d like to continue following you."

Tyler smiled.

"Well, that’s easy enough."

He took another sip of his coffee before continuing.

"I’ve been thinking about opening a shop in Moon Hawk City anyway. If that happens, the three of you can help me manage it."

The sisters’ eyes lit up.

"Of course, you’ll receive salaries. I’m not in the habit of making people work for free."

The three immediately stood up and bowed.

"Thank you, Young Master!"

Tyler waved his hand dismissively.

"No need to thank me. As long as you work properly, everyone benefits."

Only then did he return to the topic that interested him the most.

"So... is there any other information about this mysterious swordsman?"

Suzuka, who had only heard bits and pieces earlier, looked over curiously.

"What swordsman?"

Tyler briefly explained everything the Sinclair sisters had told him.

After hearing it, Suzuka frowned.

"So that’s why everyone is searching for him... An ancient artifact."

She thought for a moment before suddenly looking at Tyler.

"But why did Yun Feng suspect you?"

Tyler smiled and pointed at the sword resting beside Suzuka.

"I don’t think he was suspicious of me. He was suspicious of you."

Suzuka blinked.

"Me?"

Tyler nodded.

"The rumors say they’re looking for someone carrying a sword. They don’t even know whether that person is a man or a woman. All they know is that the ancient artifact can’t be stored inside a storage treasure."

Suzuka instinctively looked down at her katana, "I carry my sword because I temper it with my spiritual qi every day. Keeping it close improves the connection between us."

Tyler spread his hands, "Exactly. But To everyone else, though, you’re just another cultivator carrying a sword everywhere."

Nana smiled admiringly, "As expected of Young Master Tyler. You figured it out so quickly."

Tyler merely chuckled.

"It wasn’t difficult." He looked back at the three sisters. "Anything else?"

Lala nodded, "There are more rumors. They say the swordsman escaped from an ancient ruin."

Momo continued, "Many cultivators witnessed him fleeing towards Moon Hawk City, but after entering the city, he completely disappeared. No matter how many people searched, they couldn’t find him."

Nana added the final piece, "His stealth techniques must be extraordinary. Otherwise, he couldn’t have hidden from so many powerful cultivators."

Tyler rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"What if he already left the city?"

The three sisters shook their heads almost simultaneously.

"Impossible."

"Entering Moon Hawk City is easy," Lala explained. "Anyone can come in."

"But leaving is different," Momo continued. "Every person who exits must undergo inspection."

"They’re checking everyone’s storage bags and belongings," Nana said. "If someone is carrying an ancient artifact that can’t be stored away, there’s no way to hide it."

"There was a rule like that?" Suzuka was confused.

"They just added it." Momo said.

Tyler slowly walked towards the window.

Looking down, he saw countless cultivators moving through the streets below. From above, the entire city looked lively. Yet... Hidden beneath that lively atmosphere was an invisible cage.

"A rat trapped in a room..." Tyler murmured. "The entire city has become one giant trap."

No matter where the mysterious swordsman hid, he couldn’t leave openly.

Suzuka folded her arms, "So?"

Tyler turned around with a faint smile, "Then we’ll join the hunt."

The room fell silent.

Suzuka stared at him in disbelief.

"Young Master... You actually think we’ll find him?"

Tyler shrugged, "It shouldn’t be too difficult."

"Huh?"

Suzuka looked even more confused.

"The whole city has been searching for days without success."

"What makes us different?" Tyler’s smile grew wider. "Because... We have something that nobody else can offer."

Suzuka tilted her head, "What?"

Tyler’s gaze slowly shifted towards Hazel.

At that very moment, Hazel was quietly chewing on a porcelain teacup as if it were a biscuit.

Crunch.

A corner of the cup disappeared into her mouth.

Tyler’s eyelids twitched, "Don’t eat that."

Hazel blinked once before obediently putting the half-eaten teacup back onto the table.

Only then did Tyler continue.

"We have a way to get him out of this city."

Suzuka’s eyes widened as realization slowly dawned on her, "You mean..."

Tyler glanced at Hazel and smiled.
