Chapter 3041: 1001

6 min read

Since the ancestors of those nobles had gained their current status through their own Diligence, it was nothing strange that they could live the way they did now. Moreover, back then those nobles had the capital to oppress the Civilians the way they did; if those nobles really had no Strength at all, then, needless to say, not only would the Civilians who were supposed to wait there to be oppressed by them have risen in Resistance, even those noble Opponents of theirs would never have let them go. Thus, regarding the social form of that world at that time, there was nothing Zhou Tian could not accept, and once he accepted all of that, Zhou Tian naturally would not feel any aversion toward those nobles and Civilians.

It was just that, although Zhou Tian did not resent what he saw at the time, in his eyes, whether nobles or Civilians, they were merely playing their own roles; almost all living beings were doing almost the same things according to their own status. Under such circumstances back then, it was naturally very hard for there to appear any role that could make Zhou Tian’s eyes light up.

Unable to attract Zhou Tian’s Attention, those living beings naturally could not possibly be treated as Zhou Tian’s objects of Cultivation. So, if things had continued like that at the time—if no matter where Zhou Tian went he could not find any living beings that satisfied him—then even if Zhou Tian had already set that plan back then, in the end he might still not choose to Cultivate anyone. After all, to have Zhou Tian waste a great deal of time on those kinds of "Puppet"-like beings was something Zhou Tian would never be willing to do.

Fortunately, although for a while Zhou Tian failed to find any existence that made his eyes light up, after he had wandered for some time, sooner or later he was bound to bump into the "abnormal existences" of that world at that time; and as long as the Performance of that group of living beings was not too poor, then very likely, for the sake of his own plan, Zhou Tian would then Decide to Cultivate them.

The result was that after wandering in that world for quite a long time, although Zhou Tian’s requirements were not exactly low, in the end he still managed at that time to find a living being that barely met his standards.

If he had not seen it with his own eyes, then even Zhou Tian himself might have misjudged what happened right before him back then. When Zhou Tian passed by a certain small town, something rather "interesting" happened in the Lord’s Mansion of that small town; and precisely because Zhou Tian happened upon that incident back then, he was able to find a fairly decent successor at the time, and thus did not give up on that plan.

Just as Zhou Tian wandered into that small town back then, a murder case occurred in that small town that very day. The one who met Death was the lord’s youngest son, and right after that murder took place, a mercenary was immediately arrested. As for why the "suspect" was caught so quickly, there was in fact "sufficient" "evidence."

First, on the day before the lord’s son’s Death, he had had a Conflict with that mercenary. It was only because one had Strength and the other had status, and neither side wanted to get into a Desperate Fight over a minor Conflict, that they did not actually start fighting at the time. But regardless, the Conflict between that mercenary and the deceased had already long been witnessed by the nearby residents.

Second, there was Blood on that mercenary’s Weapon at the time, and he even admitted that he had killed someone that night. The only difference lay in this: when that mercenary learned that the person he had killed was the lord’s son, he immediately overturned his own confession and refused to admit any longer that he had killed the lord’s son.

Without doubt, although that mercenary ultimately denied having Killed the lord’s son, given the situation at the time, no matter how he denied it, nothing about this matter was going to change.

Because, under those circumstances back then, whether or not that mercenary had truly Killed the lord’s son, in the eyes of everyone else he was inevitably the murderer. As for why he suddenly overturned his earlier confession later on, that was easy enough to understand: previously he had not been sure of the other party’s identity. He had thought he had killed just an ordinary person, and given his own status there would be no Life Threatening consequences, so he had simply admitted it.

But once he learned that the one he had killed was actually a noble, since by law he would definitely be put to Death, he naturally overturned his confession at that point.

Ninety-nine percent of the people who saw that situation would probably have felt the same way at the time; in fact, even if Zhou Tian had suddenly learned of that incident only then, his view would probably have been the same as everyone else’s. Yet in reality, because Zhou Tian had arrived in that small town some time earlier, and, relying on Zhou Tian’s spiritual power, as long as he wished, not a single move in that small town could escape his Exploration, Zhou Tian naturally was bound to know everything that had happened in the small town at that time.

Thus, since his Ability at the time allowed him to know everything that happened in the town, then regardless of how the Outside World looked at it, and regardless of how unfavorable all the evidence was to that mercenary, Zhou Tian, basing himself solely on everything he had "seen," could not possibly be ignorant of the true course of that incident.

And in fact, everyone in that small town at the time had been deceived—and the one who deceived them was someone no one would ever have thought of.
