Back then, the reason the group of Divine Kings dispersed was primarily because they valued the benefits represented by the Abyss World. Therefore, since the group of Divine Kings dispersed for the control of the Abyss World, Zhou Tian could easily use this factor to lure them into his ambush. Following that thought, Zhou Tian deliberately guided several Divine Kings towards the so-called ’core’ position of the Abyss World, based on the information intentionally exposed by the Abyss World.
Since most of the Divine Kings thought Zhou Tian had fled, they weren’t entirely unprepared for him. Still, they were mostly convinced that the likelihood of encountering an enemy attack was slim in the upcoming actions.
Thus, with almost no defenses, if those Divine Kings were to encounter an attack from an opponent like Zhou Tian of such strength without preparation, they wouldn’t be ready.
At that moment, they mainly saw the other Divine Kings in their group as opponents, and their only precaution was against potential attacks from the Abyss World. They probably wouldn’t have the energy to worry about anything else.
When Zhou Tian set things up for those Divine Kings, they were easily deceived because they hadn’t prepared for Zhou Tian. It’s no surprise they fell for Zhou Tian’s plot, as they didn’t expect a hidden enemy like Zhou Tian to trick them.
Given the situation, with those Divine Kings falling for Zhou Tian’s trap and stepping into his ambush, although Zhou Tian couldn’t guarantee he’d eliminate all targeted Divine Kings, it was certain that he could severely damage them. If everything went smoothly, Zhou Tian could even kill some of the Divine Kings.
Undoubtedly, by that point, Zhou Tian’s plan was half successful. Seeing the plan progressing smoothly, Zhou Tian naturally had no reason not to continue his efforts.
After luring most of the nearby Divine Kings away, Zhou Tian deliberately used some information to lead one Divine King into his encirclement and then suddenly emerged from the shadows.
Of course, given the situation, Zhou Tian certainly couldn’t just emerge starkly from the darkness. Since it was a situation where the enemy was aware and Zhou Tian was hidden, having a good chance to ambush the Divine Kings, Zhou Tian certainly wouldn’t miss the chance to attack that Divine King.
"Boom!"
Everything went as Zhou Tian expected; regardless of the Divine King’s original strength, with no defenses against Zhou Tian’s attack, the Divine King was caught off guard thinking about how to control the Abyss World.
Suddenly appearing, Zhou Tian startled the Divine King. While the Divine King was pondering why Zhou Tian, presumably retreated before, appeared now, Zhou Tian’s attack had already descended upon the Divine King.
Because the Divine King was caught unprepared, Zhou Tian’s attack landed squarely on him. Even though Zhou Tian couldn’t fully utilize the Abyss World’s power, he could still use some of it to attack the enemy.
Given Zhou Tian’s slight superiority in strength over the Divine Kings, combined with the additional power from the Abyss World, the Divine King couldn’t possibly handle the intensity of Zhou Tian’s attack from any perspective.
One fierce attack later, the Divine King, yet to react, was sent flying by Zhou Tian.
"Damn it!"
Realizing Zhou Tian was the attacker, the Divine King cursed and promptly chose to flee!
No doubt, the Divine King’s reaction seemed disgraceful given his status and strength. Against Zhou Tian, without even attempting a counterattack, he chose to flee - such a performance could be embarrassing in front of other living beings.
In terms of status, the Divine King’s reaction was somewhat humiliating. But in terms of personal safety, his response was perhaps the most correct choice.
Given the circumstances, what else could the Divine King do but flee?
The Divine King could opt not to flee, but given Zhou Tian’s relationship with him, it was clear that Zhou Tian wouldn’t let him go. Based on their previous encounters, Zhou Tian’s strength was superior. Even in normal situations, the Divine King didn’t see himself defeating Zhou Tian. Now, severely injured after Zhou Tian’s ambush, continuing the fight might indeed cost him his life.
Without a doubt, for Divine Kings, dignity is important, but compared to life, dignity matters little. Choosing to flee to preserve life, under those circumstances, was undoubtedly correct.
However, the Divine King’s escape wouldn’t be easy despite the understanding of his reaction.
Zhou Tian had brought matters to this point; his plan was already mostly successful. Given the proximity to achieving his goal, Zhou Tian wouldn’t easily let the Divine King escape.
So when the Divine King intended to flee, Zhou Tian predictably decided to intercept. Unless the Divine King displayed extraordinary strength, escaping wasn’t likely to be easy.
The Divine King was caught in Zhou Tian’s ambush, severely wounded. He probably couldn’t even unleash half of his strength. Given that he couldn’t fight Zhou Tian in normal conditions, with his current injuries, Zhou Tian capturing him shouldn’t be a surprise. (To be continued.
