The transition to a deserted star allows for a focused, intimate atmosphere that avoids unnecessary bloat. However, the brevity of the story is also its main drawback. The initial setup involving the Marriage Trial Court and the Inquisition is discarded very quickly, leaving the overarching conflict of the Zerg society largely unresolved in favor of domesticity.
