Chapter 188

Thank you very much for picking up a copy of this book. My name is Saekisan, and I am your author. I trust you enjoyed the second volume of Angel Next Door short stories? Getting right into it, Miss Koyuki, the Shiina family’s housekeeper whose name had come up but who had not yet appeared in the main story, finally made her entrance. Actually, no matter how I tried, I couldn’t find a good place for her in the main storyline, so if it wasn’t in a format like this, I don’t know if I ever would have arranged for her to make an appearance. In her looks, Mahiru takes after her parents, but her overall personality is more like Miss Koyuki’s; that’s how her character’s set up. Mahiru turned out the way she did because she was raised by Miss Koyuki, who was basically a super, all-powerful mother figure. Mahiru will probably also become somewhat like that in the future. Probably. Besides that, since this was a bonus edition, I got to enjoy writing about Mahiru cuddling with Amane, sizing up Kadowaki, and already basically being married into the Fujimiya family. Itsuki and Chitose appeared a lot in the previous short-stories volume, so this time, I made Yuuta and Amane’s parents the focus. A couple of things I thought as I was writing this were: “Amane is, like, incredibly dependable from Mahiru’s point of view, huh…?” and “She sure is in love with him, huh…?” Well, it was already perfectly clear in the main storyline that she’s head over heels for him, so I guess it was a little late for that! Once again, Hanekoto drew wonderful illustrations for this volume. The Alice in Wonderland parody illustrations Hanekoto drew for the special edition are something we’d probably never see in the main books, and I was writhing in agony over how cute they are. Mahiru really looks good in an apron dress… And I love Amane in bunny ears. The cover for the regular edition is cute, too, you know… I felt like I’m not sure if we should be allowed to see Mahiru in her nightgown. She’s a refined young lady, and yet somehow there’s a glimmer of something alluring about her. Mahiru is really great. The booklet included with the special edition has a gallery of illustrations by Hanekoto, which I’m really looking forward to seeing. Even though I’ve got the digital version already, I still want my paper copy…! Now we’ve reached the end, but I still need to thank everyone who helped me. To the head editor who worked so hard to get this book published, to everyone in the editing department at GA Books, to everyone in the sales department, to the proofreaders, to Hanekoto, to everyone in the print shop, and to all of you who picked up a copy: truly, thank you so much. Let’s meet again in the next volume. Thank you very much for reading to the end!
