“So he didn’t tell you,” Vandal sighed. “I thought not. No one in their right mind would have said all those stupid things you just said if they knew about this. I was going to crush your soul anyway, of course.”
Up until this point, Kanata had panicked and cursed his bad luck, but he hadn’t faced down such pure mortal terror as that which contorted his face now.
“No, please, don’t do it!” Kanata yelled. “Why, why would you do something so horrible? No more life?! I’ve still got so much I want to do! I don’t want to die! Spare me!” Kanata cried out at the sensation of his entire being crumbling away.
Vandal gave a deep and meaningful sigh. “That goes for everyone. The people you killed, and the people I’ve killed too. Life isn’t a game you can reset and start over. You should have paid more attention to the reality you were living in.”
For Vandal, who certainly didn’t want a fourth go around and was living his best possible life on Ramda, the way Kanata had chosen to live here was something he could only chuckle about. Kanata detected this, behind Vandal’s emotionless façade, and felt rage surge inside himself, rage that almost made him pass out, overwriting his despair and terror.
“God damn you! I’m going to take you with me, you dropout loser piece of shit!”
Kanata had mocked the game-like status system, but he suddenly made use of his Discretionary Active Skills ability and learned the Limit Break skill up to level 5. He activated it, pushing his body beyond its limits to instantly boost his physical capabilities.
It was the moment, for the first time since dying on Earth and being reborn into other subsequent worlds, that Kanata actually felt alive. He planted his feet on the ground, ready to fight. His heart didn’t just rage with selfish anger but also brimmed with a sense of fulfillment. Kanata was desperate to take this strength and smash it into Vandal. To at least get some measure of vengeance—
“—Armff.”
He let out a bizarre, pathetic noise, and then his head just slumped down. His heart was still beating but his body stopped moving. The light of intention in his eyes and all expression and life simply faded from his face.
They said that you could always start over. That life goes on.
Of course, that wasn’t strictly the case.
“Princess.” Vandal provided some more MP, and Lebia used it to chop off Kanata’s head, right where he was standing.
His severed head, burnt through at the neck, rolled across the ground.
Then they received the experience from the kill, bumping up their levels. Not just Lebia, but also Vandal.
At last, he climbed his wall.

Kanata might have been a terrible person, but he was still one of the Reincarnation God’s reborn warriors equipped with a cheat ability. He was worth a lot more experience than a regular monster or human.

Everyone else was overjoyed, celebrating the defeat of one of these “cheaters” Vandal had been worried about, but Vandal himself was calm and collected.
“No, no. I might not have to kill them all. Some of them might not want to fight me.”
“But that pathetic creature said . . .”
“Pathetic being the operative word. Don’t believe everything he said.”
Among everything Kanata had spouted, Vandal didn’t believe much of what he had said about the other reborn. He didn’t know what position Kanata had been in on Origin or what his relationship was with the others. But from the way he spoke and the things he did, Vandal couldn’t believe he had been someone especially important. He probably only had a handful of close friends among all of the others.
Of course, the other reborn would probably learn at some point about Kanata’s erasure and that Vandal had done it. Still, he wondered how much of a difference that would make to most of them.
