Chapter 388: 360: A Pleasant Surprise

7 min read

After activating its First Stage, it transformed from a spear into a segmented spear, with sharp thorns sprouting from its sides. It was truly an unconventional weapon.

Therefore, this weapon wasn’t for just anyone. It required a master of various armaments to wield it effectively.

Qin Ziwen had someone in mind.

"Brother Qin, is this for me?" Cao Biansheng asked in surprise, sizing up the Long Spear before him.

’It certainly is beautiful,’ he thought. ’Like a piece of art.’

"That’s right. It’s for you. It also has a second form," Qin Ziwen said, picking up the Silver Snake and giving it a light shake.

The Long Spear in his hand blossomed like a silver flower, letting out a soft, snake-like hiss.

Then, with another flick, a series of sharp blades shot out from its sides. From a distance, it looked like a silver, flying centipede.

Cao Biansheng’s jaw dropped. He looked at the spear, then back at the President.

"Is this a Transformer? It even has a second-stage transformation."

Qin Ziwen explained, "When it enters its new form, the shaft becomes flexible. Most people would struggle to control its power. Your new ability is Weapon Master, which makes it perfect for you."

Cao Biansheng excitedly took the weapon with both hands. "Thank you, President!"

With the weapon in his hands, Cao Biansheng was like a little kid with a new toy.

Even Qin Ziwu looked on with a hint of envy. He grabbed his older brother’s arm. "Bro, I want one too."

"I’ll get you a suitable one later."

"Thanks, bro!" Qin Ziwu’s eyes lit up.

"President, what’s this weapon’s name?" Cao Biansheng asked curiously.

"It has its own exclusive name. It’s called Silver Snake."

"Silver... Snake?" Cao Biansheng felt something was a bit off.

’But the weapon is incredible, so I won’t sweat the details.’

’It’s just a name, after all.’

’Names are just labels.’

’The President calls it Silver Snake, but I can just call it Silver Dragon!’

At this thought, Cao Biansheng grinned.

’Only the President and Qin Ziwu know its real name. No one else does, so I can call it whatever I want.’

’The name’s not engraved on the spear, after all.’

Qin Ziwen, in theory, approved of Cao Biansheng’s "brilliant" idea.

’It was true that there was no name on the spear.’

’But there was one on the stele.’

’He’d see it sooner or later when he needed to bury new corpses to enhance the Hunting Artifact.’

But Qin Ziwen didn’t call him out on it. Some things were better discovered on one’s own.

Half an hour later, Cao Biansheng was parading around with his Long Spear, smugly showing it off to everyone. "The President saw how bravely I fight and specially bestowed this Divine Weapon upon me!"

As he spoke, the Long Spear activated its First Stage, drawing a chorus of gasps from the crowd.

"Brother Cao, that weapon is so cool! It can even transform."

"Incredible! It shattered a three-centimeter-thick iron plate like it was tofu."

"Brother Cao, what’s your Divine Weapon called?"

Cao Biansheng gave a faint smile. "Celestial Silver Dragon."

"Then if you put on a suit of Silver Armor, you’d be the Zhao Zilong of the Qin Alliance!"

"Not Zhao Zilong. Cao Zilong."

Qin Ziwu’s expression was strange. He had been to the Eternal Hunting Tomb and knew the Hunting Artifact’s real name.

He couldn’t help but glance silently at Cao Biansheng’s figure in the crowd.

However, thanks to Cao Biansheng’s showboating, news of the Divine Weapon spread throughout the Qin Alliance.

The name that spread externally was not Hunting Artifact. This was a measure taken by Qin Ziwu to prevent anyone from recognizing the name "Hunting Artifact," so they were simply referred to as Divine Weapons.

The Divine Weapon was said to be connected to Master Li Tieshan, the craftsman who had achieved the Extraordinary realm.

The rumors became quite vivid and detailed. Some even swore they had seen Master Li spend forty-nine days and nights forging this Divine Weapon.

To those in the know, however, it was just a joke. Master Li hadn’t even been in the Extraordinary realm for half a month; forging this Divine Weapon probably took only a few days at most.

Many grew envious and became determined to perform great deeds in order to earn a Divine Weapon of their own one day.

...

On the surface of the sea, two large ships sailed side by side.

Between the ships, a large net was being dragged, most of it submerged beneath the waves.

As the ships’ speed gradually slowed,

the large net was drawn inward.

On the sparkling surface of the sea, silver fish leaped and splashed.

"Looks like another bountiful day."

"We should be able to rack up a lot of contribution points today."

"I hear we only have two days left. We should eat our fill of seafood while we’re still at sea. The next map will be nothing but bugs."

"Eating bugs? It can’t be that bad, can it?"

"The next map is a cave system. Inside, there’s nothing but bats and bugs. We’ll be lucky to have anything to eat at all."

"Are you sure you remember that right? I heard the higher-ups announce that the next map is an underground cavern."

"So? Isn’t an underground cavern just a cave?"

"Are you dense? A cavern is a cave. An underground cavern is an underground cave! Besides earthworms, there’ll be all sorts of other bugs. I mean, eating bugs is fine when you’re starving—it’s all high-protein—but being able to eat more seafood is obviously a much better deal."

"Wait, look over there!" someone shouted, pointing behind the ship.

There, beneath the surface, a massive creature was gradually approaching.

"What is that?" someone exclaimed in alarm.

"Report it, now! There’s something huge under the water!" Zhang Chongshan’s expression hardened. "Ready the Bed Crossbows! Prepare to attack and draw its aggro!"

"Hey, look, it seems to be turning away."

Under the sea, a small team of Fishmen was swimming in the other direction.

Opposite them, a Megalodon over thirty meters long was in hot pursuit.

"Hurry! Our Submarine Warship is over there! We just need to stall a little longer until reinforcements arrive!"

Even for battle-hardened Fishman Warriors, prey over thirty meters long was a rare sight.

Suddenly, from behind and to the side, a black blur shot past them, moving faster than they could see, and slammed head-on into the beast!

BAM!!! The Megalodon froze for a moment.

The Fishmen looked and saw their Fishman Leader riding on its back.

He was as valiant as any warrior.

On its back, the Fishman Leader was embedded in its flesh like a nail.

The Megalodon thrashed wildly,

then leaped out of the water!

It sent a massive wave crashing outwards.

Its presence could no longer be concealed.

Fortunately, the harassment from the Fishman unit had bought enough time.

The surrounding ships had already cleared the area, moving far away in every direction.

At almost the exact moment it breached the surface, an unparalleled aura erupted from a distant reef!

A powerful, imposing figure leaped down. A massive plume of water kicked up in his wake, forming a straight line across the sea as he charged directly toward the Megalodon.

The Megalodon turned its head, a human-like flicker of shock in its eyes. Then it looked up at the sky.

Directly overhead, the oncoming figure leaped high, raising a giant shield. Backlit by the sun, his form was a pitch-black silhouette.

It grew larger,

and larger,

until finally, it slammed down with a crash!

The Megalodon instantly lost consciousness. To the onlookers, its head had been completely caved in by the impact!

In the Celestial Star Arrow Gallery, Qin Ziwen was practicing his Arrow Skill when he saw the small orb of light from his Home automatically appear. He couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. "Well now, an unexpected surprise."
