Chapter 1318: What You Said Was Really Rude

3 min read

Matthew Saxon curled his lips, but there wasn’t a hint of smile in his eyes; instead, they were filled with chilling coldness. "Is there something wrong with my attitude? If this young lady next to you isn’t deaf or mute, why hasn’t she said a word for so long?""What kind of remark is that," Maxwell Saxon frowned, his face darkening. "Scarlett doesn’t want to answer, do you really have to force her to?"

"It’s not something that one struggles to talk about, so why can’t she answer?" Matthew’s icy gaze pierced harshly into Scarlett Yates’ pale face. He looked at her with a cold smile and said, "Miss Yates doesn’t want to answer because she might be harboring a guilty conscience and therefore doesn’t dare to speak?"

"That’s enough, Matthew, saying such things is truly rude."

"Rude? Even if I’m rude, it’s still better than women who don’t even know the meaning of shame."

They actually started arguing...

The onlookers suddenly felt a bit awkward. Logically, at this point, they should all disperse, leaving some space for them to sort it out on their own.

But if they all left suddenly, it would seem deliberate.

So now they couldn’t decide whether to leave or stay, until finally, the host of the manor stepped forward to mediate, saying, "Maxwell, I think Miss Yates looks a bit unwell. How about I have someone help her to rest for a while, while you two brothers find a place to sit and chat calmly?"

Hearing that Scarlett Yates was unwell, Maxwell Saxon seemed very anxious. He immediately turned around and asked with concern, "Scarlett, what’s wrong? Should I have a doctor take a look?"

Scarlett Yates clenched her fists.

She raised her pale face, biting her lip tightly, looking at Maxwell Saxon with a mocking gaze.

That man who is deceitful to the extreme.

Wasn’t everything planned by him?

Now, he must be very pleased, easily creating such a deep misunderstanding between him and Matthew Saxon.

"I’m fine, a little rest will do." Disgusted, she pushed away his reaching hand. Scarlett took a few deep breaths, straightened herself, and forced a smile at the host, "Thank you for the trouble."

The host smiled and said, "No trouble at all. Maxwell is a good friend of ours. Consider this place your home. Don’t feel constrained."

Scarlett squeezed out another smile from her stiff lips, "Thank you."

"Miss Yates, let me take you to rest now." The hostess came over and supported her.

At the moment of turning around, Scarlett could still feel that cold and intense gaze behind her, like an ice blade wrapped in a chill, repeatedly stabbing into her back.

The hostess led her to a resting room, tenderly and with care, repeatedly saying that if she felt uncomfortable anywhere at all, she must tell her immediately and not feel embarrassed.

After exchanging some polite small talk with each other, the hostess finally left.

Scarlett briefly surveyed the room’s arrangement. It wasn’t very luxurious, yet it gave off a very comfortable feeling.

She curled herself up on the soft sofa.

Feeling troubled inside, thinking of the way Matthew Saxon looked at her, and those sharp and venomous words, her heart clenched tightly, all twisted in sorrow.

She knew very well that once a misunderstanding formed, resolving it would not be easy.

Matthew Saxon wasn’t so trusting of her in the first place; after tonight’s events, whatever little trust he had in her was likely gone.
