Chapter 1312: I Haven’t Divorced Yet

3 min read

The jewelry set purchased for a billion was indeed worth the money. Wearing the diamond set, her presence became even more striking. Maxwell Saxon was mesmerized as he watched, not only did his gaze darken but his voice became hoarse: "Scarlett, do you know how beautiful you look right now? You make me captivated."

Scarlett Yates instantly felt goosebumps all over her body.

Maxwell was becoming more and more cheesy.

His gaze grew increasingly intense, so intense that Scarlett sensed a slight crisis in it. She touched her freshly raised goosebumps and abruptly stood up before the crisis arrived: "Maxwell, shouldn’t we be leaving?"

She stood up with too much force, feeling a bit flustered inside, and accidentally stepped on her dress hem.

She cried out, and her body lurched forward, falling directly into Maxwell’s arms.

He curled his thin lips upwards and gladly spread his arms to embrace her.

His long and strong arms clasped around her waist, holding her steadily.

Scarlett’s head bumped into his chest, the tip of her nose hitting his stone-hard muscles, causing her brows and eyes to crumple in pain.

Like Matthew Saxon, he maintained a workout routine for years, resulting in a body full of solid muscles. Scarlett’s head hitting him felt like striking a stone.

"Scarlett, are you really so eager to throw yourself into my arms?" Maxwell’s deep laughter echoed in her ears.

Her goosebumps reappeared, annoyed and angry, she pushed forcefully against his chest: "Maxwell, this is my home, please be mindful. Even if you don’t care about your image, I do."

"What’s the problem with that?"

Maxwell curled a smile, his long fingers lightly brushing her face, then reaching her ear, pinching her delicate earlobe while gazing at her with indulgence: "You are my fiancée; even if others see, they will only think we are deeply in love, with only envy and jealousy."

"Who is your fiancée? Don’t forget, I am still married." Scarlett frowned and pushed him away. The places he touched felt like spiders crawling, giving her an uncomfortable feeling.

After pushing Maxwell away, she took two steps back, bit her lip, and replaced her expression with a serious demeanor. She said word by word: "Maxwell, I promised to marry you, but until I am fully single again, I hope we can maintain some distance between us. Otherwise, what does my behavior look like now?"

"Being married yet flirting with another man, what would others say about me?"

Maxwell paused, then quickly replied: "Others won’t find out; nobody has solid proof of your marriage with Matthew Saxon. It’s all just speculation."

"Whether others know or not doesn’t matter. I know, and you know. Under circumstances where we’re both aware, I hope you can respect me and not make me into a woman of questionable character."

Maxwell frowned, didn’t speak immediately, and deeply looked at her with his dark eyes.

Scarlett pressed her lips, her gaze steady, meeting his eyes directly: "Can you really not wait for a few days? You claim your affection for me, but does it mean disregarding my feelings, doing whatever pleases you?"
