Chapter 1275: Don’t Overthink It

3 min read

Once again, he strongly realized that this woman’s influence on him was much greater than he had imagined. He had never cared about any woman’s past like he did now.

Never before.

He had countless female companions by his side, but he never asked about their past because he wasn’t interested in knowing and simply didn’t care.

They were just toys to pass the time, replaced every so often. Who would waste their thoughts on such toys?

"What does it matter to you? You wouldn’t care anyway."

Scarlett Yates was afraid he would suddenly become savage again and also worried she might accidentally touch his injured leg. She found it tough lying on him.

This man who says one thing but means another, complains about her, but his body is quite honest.

"You’re right, it indeed has nothing to do with me, and I wouldn’t care, but I can’t tolerate being lied to by others. That was just a punishment for you lying to me earlier, don’t overthink it." He curved his lips into a malicious smile, and after speaking, he pushed her off him.

Scarlett Yates immediately bounced off the bed.

Her lips still burned, as if somewhere had been bitten, and inhaling even hurt.

She grimaced, rubbed her lips with her hand, and then looked down, sure enough, to see faint blood stains on the back of her hand.

This brute!

"Go get me a fresh set of clothes, and I’m a bit hungry too. Later, get me something to eat. There’s a place on the street opposite the hospital where the wontons are very delicious. Go quickly and come back fast. Wontons aren’t good when they get cold."

He pulled the blanket over himself, lazily reclining as he issued commands effortlessly.

Scarlett Yates felt somewhat frustrated.

He really treated her like a servant.

Fine, considering he’s a patient and not quite in his right mind, she wouldn’t bother squabbling with him.

"Why are you still standing there? Move a bit quicker. When I get hungry, I get cranky, and when I’m in a bad mood, I want to take it out on someone."

When he mentioned "take it out," his voice lowered slightly, and a hint of a mischievous smile appeared in his eyes, intentionally glancing down at Scarlett Yates’ neckline.

"Pervert!" Scarlett Yates blushed, bit her lip, cursed at him, and turned to leave.

After she left the bedroom, Matthew Saxon’s gaze, which had been following her, slowly returned.

Recalling his earlier anger and loss of control, and his body’s reaction, his brow furrowed gradually, growing more and more tense.

He disliked all troublesome matters.

And in his eyes, the number one troublesome matter was emotions.

Once one got entangled with it, it was hard to quit, and it would gradually erode one’s original will and clarity.

He had seen someone fall into it firsthand, and then they found it hard to come back from it.

And that person was someone he considered very clear-headed, someone he thought would never be a fool for love nor could it have been them.

Yet the reality was, once touched by love, no one was spared.

He was afraid he’d become like that too, and by then, he wouldn’t be himself anymore.

He always resisted love, so his attitude toward women was consistently cold and ruthless. He appeared to be emotional, yet he was the most heartless and rational.

The women he hurt were countless, and he never felt any guilt.
